NABF REACHES AGREEMENT WITH CITY OF KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE

Obtains 10-year sublease of Christenberry Park and Ballfields

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 2, 2023 — The National Amateur Baseball Federation, the oldest continuously running amateur baseball organization in the country, and the City of Knoxville, Tennessee, have reached an agreement for the NABF to make Christenberry Park the home baseball complex of the NABF. Donated funds from the NABF will be used to install turf infields on all four baseball/softball fields, new scoreboards, video boards, perimeter fencing, vendor area with shopping for players and families, multiple concession areas, and other improvements.   Through the agreements, the NABF will host sanctioned tournaments and showcases for all age groups from 6U-18U and girls softball.  In all, the NABF will utilize multiple parks and a total of 17 fields, all within a 30 minute drive.

EvoShield, DeMarini, Louisville Slugger, Wilson, Hoosier Bats, Diamond, Bownet, Baseball Bluebook, Playbook365, MTM Recognition, and Frazier Insurance already are or have all signed on to be park and NABF sponsors.

Baseball Bluebook will provide online player profiles for every player in NABF events that can be continually updated to help players with promotion and college recruiting.  Select games in the park will be live streamed.  Baseball Bluebook and the NABF YouTube Channel will house NABF video highlights and recorded live streams that can be viewed around the world and on social media.  Participating players will have access to all of this content for promotion and recruiting.

Playbook365 will handle all tournament registrations, team rankings, and daily tournament information.

The NABF is also working on a program to provide internship and work-based learning opportunities for high school and college students that will provide them a wide variety of experiences in athletics.

The East Tennessee Baseball District, who is celebrating their 25th year with the NABF, will run and oversee the tournaments for the NABF.

Knoxville is a baseball community.  With the city’s location, the new Smokies Stadium, and the location of Christenberry Park in the city, the NABF saw a great opportunity to invest in the game and the community.

NABF Executive Director, Derek Topik, stated “we are very excited about this partnership between the NABF, the City of Knoxville and Knoxville Falcons. The growth potential for not only NABF Baseball, but baseball in the City of Knoxville is tremendous.”

Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon stated “This doesn’t just benefit the people who play baseball, there are a lot of people who go out and watch the games and support the kids.  This is about investing and enriching kids and lifting them up and teaching them leadership and teamwork.  This shows our community cares and supports our kids.  This will be a great addition to the North Knoxville Community.”

The Christenberry Park complex is located within an eight-hour drive from dozens of metropolitan areas and easily accessible from all driving directions in the United States. McGhee Tyson Airport is 15 miles from the complex, and thousands of hotel rooms are available.

The NABF, the City of Knoxville, Knoxville Falcons, and East Tennessee Baseball District look forward to teams coming to Christenberry Park to play quality baseball at an affordable price beginning in 2024.
