There are plenty of things to do throughout the Peach State, no matter which direction you turn. Here are a few baseball-related activities that come to mind.
Is That a Banana?
The city of Savannah is a bit of a drive from Emerson, but if time allows you can say you visited the home of the Savannah Bananas, known for their unique brand of “Banana Ball.”
Birthplace of the Peach
The legendary “Georgia Peach” Ty Cobb still holds the all-time highest career batting average of .366. He was born an hour to the east in Narrows, Georgia.
Hammerin’ Hank’s Place
Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s HR record in 1974 at Atlanta’s Fulton County Stadium. Today you can check out his statue in Monument Garden at Truist Park, where the stadium once stood. There’s also a museum and athletics complex at Georgia State University named in Aaron’s honor.
